Ludwig & Robinson has represented air carriers in passenger and cargo claims, and acted as national counsel for travel agent claims for a subsidiary of major airlines. Our litigators have defended carriers, manufacturers and insurers in multi-district trials and appeals before various federal circuits and the Supreme Court arising from domestic and  international air disasters.

Our attorneys have also served as counsel to airlines negotiating aircraft purchase agreements and restructuring debt, and represented foreign and domestic carriers, manufacturers and lessors in regulatory matters, including accident investigations, enforcement, and foreign carrier permit proceedings.

Representative Experience

    • Local counsel for Malaysian airline in multi-district proceedings: In re: Air Crash over the Southern Indian Ocean on March 8, 2014 (D.D.C. 2018)

    • Defended Air Afrique, Alitalia and other foreign air carriers in personal injury, baggage and cargo claims under the Warsaw Convention and Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act

    • Represented Lufthansa in obtaining release from U.S. Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control, of frozen funds relating to payment of over-flight charges in Serbia

    • Assisted Kuwait Airways with commercial and labor matters in Germany, and with claim against German airport authority for damage to B-747 engine

    • Represented pedestrian in personal injury action against motorist, obtaining favorable settlement

    • Served as national litigation counsel for Airlines Reporting Corporation, a subsidiary of major U.S. airlines, in suits involving travel agents

  • Advised Airlines Reporting Corporation on creating national claims arbitration program for travel agents
